{"id":13163,"date":"2018-10-29T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-10-29T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wellable.co\/blog\/39-of-large-employers-offer-151-500-in-wellness-incentives\/"},"modified":"2023-08-22T17:06:30","modified_gmt":"2023-08-22T21:06:30","slug":"39-of-large-employers-offer-151-500-in-wellness-incentives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wellable.co\/blog\/39-of-large-employers-offer-151-500-in-wellness-incentives\/","title":{"rendered":"39% Of Large Employers Offer $151-$500 In Wellness Incentives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every year, the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) releases their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/report-section\/2018-employer-health-benefits-survey-summary-of-findings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Employer Health Benefits Survey<\/a>, which provides current information about employer-sponsored health benefits.\u00a0 This year&#8217;s report is full of important findings, from increases in health insurance premiums to changes in employer contributions and growing use of new programs like telemedicine.\u00a0 Included in the report is information pertaining to employee health and wellness programs.<\/p>\n<p>Most notably, 82% of large employers (those with more than 200 employees) offer some type of employee wellness program that helps workers identify health risks and unhealthy behaviors as well as improve their lifestyles.\u00a0 Among large firms offering an employee wellness program, 35% offer employees an incentive to participate in or complete the program.<\/p>\n<p>Among large firms with any type of incentive, 15% have a maximum incentive of $150 or less; 39% have a maximum incentive between $151 and $500; 21% have a maximum incentive between $501 and $1,000; 19% have a maximum incentive between $1,001 and $2,000; and 6% have a maximum incentive of more than $2,000.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wellable.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/39%20Of%20Large%20Employers%20Offer%20%24151-%24500%20In%20Wellness%20Incentives.png\" alt=\"39 Of Large Employers Offer $151-$500 In Wellness Incentives\" width=\"489\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This information is valuable to employers currently looking to offer significant incentives as well as those that already do.\u00a0 It serves a good benchmark for program comparison.\u00a0 With the maximum incentive between $151 and $500 being the category that clearly is the most popular, employers looking for competitive wellness incentives can use this guidance as a starting place.\u00a0 Since each employer and culture of health is different, it is not surprising to see such a wide distribution amongst maximum incentives.<\/p>\n<p>The report also showed that health risk assessments (HRAs) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wellable.co\/biometric-screenings-for-organizations-and-employees-what-you-should-know\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">biometric screenings<\/a> are still popular, with 62% and 50% of large firms, respectively, offering them to employees.\u00a0 In regard to incentives, 51% and 60% of large firms offering HRAs and biometric screenings, respectively, also provided incentives for employees to complete them.\u00a0 With the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wellable.co\/blog\/no-action-from-eeoc-on-wellness-regulations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new regulatory environment<\/a>, it is likely to see the number of employers removing incentives for these wellness services to decrease and\/or the number of employers offering a non-clinical alternative to increase.\u00a0 Regardless, employers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wellable.co\/blog\/al-lewis-on-hras-and-biometric-screenings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">should not be engaging in these types of services<\/a> for employee wellness programs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Employer Health Benefits Survey report is full of important findings, from increases in health insurance premiums to changes in employer contributions and growing use of new programs like telemedicine.
