{"id":14867,"date":"2014-09-22T14:00:45","date_gmt":"2014-09-22T14:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wellable.co\/blog\/2014-09-22-survey-tech-support-and-trust-can-boost-wellness-program-participation\/"},"modified":"2022-11-13T21:34:25","modified_gmt":"2022-11-14T02:34:25","slug":"2014-09-22-survey-tech-support-and-trust-can-boost-wellness-program-participation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wellable.co\/blog\/2014-09-22-survey-tech-support-and-trust-can-boost-wellness-program-participation\/","title":{"rendered":"Survey: Tech Support &#038; Trust Boost Wellness Program Participation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shrm.org\/ResourcesAndTools\/hr-topics\/benefits\/Documents\/EIU_HUMANA_WEB_FINAL_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">22-page report, \u201cMeasuring Wellness, From Data to Insights,\u201d<\/a> by the The Economist Intelligence Unit provides great information on the thoughts and perceptions of wellness programs. \u00a0The survey captures data from both employers and employees. \u00a0There are a number of key takeaways (below are a few highlights), including the need for employers to incorporate mobile health technology and foster trust in order to boost participation and drive results.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wellable.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/EIU.png\" alt=\"EIU\" width=\"256\" \/>A little more than half (53%) of survey respondents said their organizations collect health-related employee data as part of their wellness programs, but of those who did, 88% reported the data they use is health plans&#8217; claims data. \u201cOnly a minority of employers use their own proprietary data from fitness (31%) or health improvement services (30%).&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Only about one in four employers use data from employees&#8217; own mobile apps or wellness devices.\u00a0Meanwhile, a majority of employees surveyed (64%) said they use these apps or devices and nearly one in five (19%) use the devices regularly. Survey results also suggest \u201cthat if employers built device usage into their wellness programs, employees would use them more often.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>When asked about obstacles to participation in wellness programs, both employers and employees recognized privacy issues as significant barriers, with 43% of employers and 27% of employees indicating that \u201cemployees are concerned that personal information will not remain confidential.\u201d Only time constraints, cited by 43% of employers and 41% of employees, ranked as high or higher as a barrier.<\/li>\n<li>More than half (56%) of employees indicated they would share data with a third party \u201cif there were credible guarantees of confidentiality,\u201d and 66% would share data with their employers \u201cprovided that they received assurances that it would be used only for their benefit.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A report by the Economist Intelligence Unit provides great information on the thoughts and perceptions of wellness programs.
