{"id":15073,"date":"2013-10-16T20:35:05","date_gmt":"2013-10-16T20:35:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wellable.co\/blog\/2013-10-16-how-would-gmail-categorize-your-companys-wellness-program\/"},"modified":"2022-10-14T05:13:55","modified_gmt":"2022-10-14T09:13:55","slug":"2013-10-16-how-would-gmail-categorize-your-companys-wellness-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wellable.co\/blog\/2013-10-16-how-would-gmail-categorize-your-companys-wellness-program\/","title":{"rendered":"How Would Gmail Categorize Your Company\u2019s Wellness Program?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wellable.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/gmail1-1.jpg\" alt=\"Gmail\" width=\"300\" height=\"146\" \/>On May 29th, Google announced a small but significant change to Gmail.\u00a0 Google introduced a newly formatted inbox that automatically sorts emails into separate tabs.\u00a0 According to Google, the new Gmail \u201cis organized in a way that lets you see what\u2019s new at a glance and decide which emails you want to read when.\u201d\u00a0 This new feature is great for users, but creates new challenges for businesses vying for your attention.<\/p>\n<p>To the chagrin of many online marketers, this new, \u201csmarter\u201d inbox essentially separates emails that are important, from emails that are less important.\u00a0 If you are a Gmail user, you are familiar with three of the categories or tabs: Primary, Social, and Promotions.<\/p>\n<p>Like Gmail\u2019s new inbox, corporate wellness can also be divided.\u00a0 Wellness programs exist in many corporations across America, but companies approach wellness very differently.\u00a0 What happens if we apply Gmail\u2019s new auto-categorization feature to the current state of corporate wellness?\u00a0 It would probably look something like this\u2026<\/p>\n<p><!--space--><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"promotions-wellness\">Promotions Wellness<\/h3>\n<p>Wellness is offered but it is not taken seriously.\u00a0 Employees are presented with wellness resources, but the resources are limited and receive low employee engagement and participation.\u00a0 Similar to Promotions emails, wellness is not an important part of the employee culture and tends to be deleted.<\/p>\n<p><!--space--><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"social-wellness\">Social Wellness<\/h3>\n<p>The company dabbles in wellness, but only when it\u2019s fun and convenient.\u00a0 For example, a few of the younger employees organize a company softball team and play a game once a week.\u00a0 The turnout for the post-game happy hour is often higher than the game\u2019s.\u00a0 Like Social emails, wellness gets some attention by a subset of the employees, but other employees could care less.<\/p>\n<p><!--space--><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"primary-wellness\">Primary Wellness<\/h3>\n<p>Wellness is core to the company\u2019s culture.\u00a0 The company invests in their employees\u2019 health and wellbeing through a high-engagement wellness solution.\u00a0 Wellness is not a once a week event, wellness is encouraged daily and takes a number of different forms.\u00a0 Wellness includes healthy snacks in the kitchen, a Health Risk Assessment, and offering a wellness program that has customized and personalized wellness action plans for each employee.\u00a0 Wellness is not a nice to have; it\u2019s a need to have.\u00a0 Like the primary tab, wellness is a must read.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How would Gmail categorize your company\u2019s wellness program?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more on Gmail\u2019s new inbox: <a href=\"https:\/\/gmail.googleblog.com\/2013\/05\/a-new-inbox-that-puts-you-back-in.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/gmail.googleblog.com\/2013\/05\/a-new-inbox-that-puts-you-back-in.html<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How Would Gmail Categorize Your Company\u2019s Wellness Program?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":15074,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[12],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-15073","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-holistic-workplace-wellness"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v20.6 (Yoast SEO v24.8.1) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>How Would Gmail Categorize Your Company\u2019s Wellness Program?
