Self-Care

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice that originated in China over 2,500 years ago. It is a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a holistic system of medicine that aims to restore balance and harmony within the body. Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the skin, known as acupuncture points, along energy pathways called meridians.

The underlying principle of acupuncture is based on the concept of Qi (pronounced "chee"), which is the vital energy that flows through the body along the meridians. According to TCM, imbalances or blockages in the flow of Qi can lead to various physical or mental ailments. By inserting needles at specific points, an acupuncturist seeks to regulate the flow of Qi, restore balance, and promote the body's natural healing abilities.

Participants sign up online for individual appointments (anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes in length) where a practitioner addresses acupuncture points on the ears and feet.

Aromatherapy

Stress and anxiety decrease immunity. This class teaches participants how to reduce stress and detoxify the body with essential oils in order to boost your immunity. During the class, participants make their very own blends using a variety of essential oils.

Chair Massage

Chair massage is a type of massage therapy that is performed on a specially designed massage chair. Unlike traditional massage tables, which require the participant to lie down, chair massage allows the person to sit comfortably in an ergonomically designed chair, fully clothed.

Participants sign up online for individual appointments (anywhere from 10 to 60 minutes in length) where a licensed massage therapists uses a combination of techniques such as Swedish massage, acupressure, and deep tissue massage to target tension and tightness in the upper body. The focus is primarily on the neck, shoulders, back, and arms, areas where many people experience muscle tension due to poor posture, stress, or repetitive movements.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a holistic healing practice that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, or ears to stimulate corresponding areas within the body. The underlying theory of reflexology is that energy pathways, similar to meridians in Traditional Chinese Medicine, run throughout the body and connect to the reflex points on the feet, hands, and ears.

Participants sign up online for individual appointments (anywhere from 10 to 60 minutes in length) where a reflexologist applies targeted pressure to reflex points to promote relaxation, balance the body's energy, and support natural healing processes. Reflexology does not involve the use of oils or lotions, and the recipient remains fully clothed during the session.

Reiki

Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th. It is based on the belief that when the life force energy is low or blocked, it can lead to physical or emotional imbalances, and by channeling Reiki energy, the body's natural ability to heal itself is stimulated. The practice involves the transfer of healing energy from the practitioner to the recipient through their hands.

Participants sign up online for individual appointments (anywhere from 10 to 60 minutes in length) where, while fully clothed, a Reiki practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above specific areas of the recipient's body, allowing the healing energy to flow. If a participant prefers not to be touched, they can indicate this to the practitioner before beginning or at any point during a session.
